Bash Balogun, CFA, CAIA
Having lived & worked in 4 countries across 3 continents, Bash Balogun is an accomplished investments professional with nearly two decades of global experience, now specializing in private infrastructure investments. She is currently Director, Infrastructure Client Care at CBRE Investment Management, where she oversees client relationship management, investor reporting, client onboarding, and also supports new business acquisition for the firm's global private infrastructure business.
Prior to her role at CBRE Investment Management, Bash returned from a family-focussed career break as Director, Capital Solutions at CPP Investments (Canada), where she was instrumental in managing the Fund’s second-largest portfolio investment and was on the company’s investment committee. Her innovative approach to process improvements and governance led to enhanced operational efficiencies and earned her the prestigious Inaugural CEO Excellence Award.
As one of the first 50 employees at Africa Finance Corporation, Bash supported the financial analysis, due diligence, and financing of over US$100 million in infrastructure investments, as well as contributed to business development that resulted in the addition of 10 infrastructure assets to the portfolio and began the process of engagement with the top levels of government of one of the countries that eventually became a shareholder of the Corporation. Bash also had a stint as an entrepreneur, running an investments & advisory business alongside her husband that was focused on incubating new ideas, investing in micro businesses, and providing financial modelling & business consulting services.
Earlier in her career, Bash was an information systems auditor, a trade & investment analyst, a public finance investment banker, and she also sold interest rate derivatives.
Bash is a CFA Charterholder and CAIA Charterholder. She has contributed to organizations like the CFA Institute and served on boards such as Antares Capital (board observer, USA) and Unicorn Day Care (board director, Canada). Bash holds an MSc in Management (Finance & Operations) from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and a First-Class Honours degree in Computer Science with Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria). Bash is also a member of TheBoardroom Africa.
At the intersection of investments, strategy, and client care, Bash leverages her cross-cultural and entrepreneurial expertise to deliver impactful solutions and foster long-term partnerships. Outside of work, Bash focuses on activities related to education and women empowerment, volunteering as a mentor for both the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and the United for Kids Foundation’s Mentor-a-Scholar program. In addition to spending time with her husband and two children, Bash also enjoys visiting new places, meeting & connecting people, and learning about how things came to be. Her joie de vivre means you are likely to find her gently vibing to a cool tune in the middle of a supermarket.
