Carmen Ortiz-McGhee is the Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), the largest network of diverse-owned alternative investment firms. She provides strategic oversight over all aspects of the organization, including NAIC's industry-leading programs and initiatives, and industry alliances and corporate partnerships. Prior to joining NAIC, Carmen served as Senior Vice President at Aon plc, where she drove growth across the risk and health product lines in the Mid-Atlantic and led the sales team to achieve its highest revenue generation and overall performance in over a decade. Carmen also served as a member of Aon's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and was tapped as one of Business Insurance magazine's Top 25 Women to Watch. Before joining Aon, Carmen was Vice President of Investor Relations for a boutique real estate private equity firm. Prior to that, Carmen served as President of The Marathon Club (TMC), an organization that facilitated relationships and enhanced wealth creation and deal flow for ethnically diverse professionals and communities. Carmen started her career at a number of national nonprofits where she led corporate fundraising strategies, membership recruitment efforts, content development, and executed events. Carmen is a passionate advocate for diverse and women-owned businesses and regularly speaks at conferences and events on various issues related to empowerment of women in business, scaling diverse businesses, and authentic leadership. A proud graduate of the University of Virginia, Carmen serves on the UVA Alumni Association Board of Managers. Additionally, she serves as Chair of the Governance & Nominating Committee for Communities In Schools' national board of directors, is a member of the MBA Fund I Investment Committee, a member of LivingCities' Catalyst Fund II Advisory Board, as well as a member of the Hispanics in Philanthropy Inicio Ventures Advisory Cabinet.
