Crystal is a tax partner in KPMG’s Asset Management tax practice in New York. She has more than seventeen years of experience in providing a broad range of tax compliance and consulting services to alternative investment clients.
Crystal provides tax compliance and consulting services for private equity funds, hedge funds, and other alternative investment funds and their sponsors. She has serviced various types of alternative clients including start-up/emerging funds, large high volume trading hedge funds and large fund of funds. She has extensive experience in partnership taxation including structuring, partnership allocations, financial products, and complex transactions. In addition, Crystal has substantial experience with credit funds as she worked in industry at Silver Point Capital and also has provided services to numerous credit funds helping them with complex transactions including debt modifications and restructurings and also helping them with various tax policies including distressed debt identification and treatment.
Crystal’s primary responsibilities include the following: analyzing various transactions and products for proper tax treatment, reviewing taxable income calculations and tax allocations, overseeing the preparation and transmission of investor tax reporting schedules and reviewing federal and state tax returns, advising clients on international and state tax-related matters, including withholding taxes, Nexus, state, and local filing requirements and managing tax compliance for large-volume engagements by closely monitoring the progress of the engagement and the use of resources as well as leveraging technology to increase efficiencies.
Crystal is originally from Memphis, Tennessee and currently resides in Westchester County, New York with her husband and 9-year old son. When Crystal is not tackling some of her client’s most challenging questions and issues, she is an active basketball mom and member of the White Plains Parent Teacher Association.
